On July 6, students from Kong Fansen Primary School in Gar County, Ngari Prefecture, Xizang visited the Kong Fansen Memorial Hall in Liaocheng City, Shandong Province.

As they stepped into the memorial hall, the children were taken back to a period of history that felt both familiar and strange. More than 270 historical photographs, over 1,000 precious artifacts, and a collection of documentary video clips vividly recount Kong Fansen’s extraordinary life—from his hometown in Shandong to the snowy plateau of Xizang, where he served two assignments over the course of ten years, remembered for his deep affection for the people and his selfless dedication.

One particular photograph immediately caught the children’s attention. “That’s our school!” They exclaimed almost in unison as they pointed excitedly to a picture titled “Kong Fansen Primary School in Ngari, Xizang”. In the photograph, a white Khata hangs around the statue of Kong Fansen.

“We see Grandpa Kong’s statue every day!” Several children said with excitement. At that moment, the memorial hall suddenly felt much more familiar.
One special touching tribute followed. Standing before Kong Fansen’s statue, the children performed their hometown’s traditional Gorchom dance. In a simple yet heartfelt way, they paid their deepest tribute to the man who devoted his life to the snowy plateau.
Traveling more than 4,500 kilometers from Ngari to Liaocheng, the children brought the dance of their hometown to the birthplace of Kong Fansen. They also brought with them gratitude and remembrance that transcend time and distance. Through the dance they know best, the students of Kong Fansen Primary School delivered a simple yet heartfelt message: Grandpa Kong Fansen, your spirit lives on, and we are carrying it forward.
