2026-10-08  | China Tibet Online

On the occasion of the 36th Ethnic Unity and Progress Publicity Month of the Xizang Autonomous Region, a special exhibition titled "A Millennium of Porcelain Ties, Together Reflecting Mountains and Rivers: Exchanges, Interactions and Integration of the Chinese Nation in Porcelain Treasures from Xizang" officially opened at the Xizang Museum on Sept. 20. The exhibition was hosted by the Xizang Autonomous Regional Bureau of Cultural Heritage and jointly organized by the Xizang Museum, the Potala Palace Administration, the Norbulingka Administration, Tashilhunpo Monastery, Sakya Monastery and other institutions.

The exhibition features 120 pieces/sets of precious porcelain, including 37 first-class cultural relics, three unique pieces/sets, and 82 pieces/sets on display for the first time. Through these tangible artifacts, the exhibition vividly presents the long history of mutual learning and cultural exchange, as well as harmonious coexistence among China’s ethnic groups, bringing to life the stories of their exchanges, interactions and integration.

To enrich the visitor experience and create an immersive classroom for ethnic unity education, the Xizang Museum has planned a series of supporting educational activities, including multiple public academic lectures and special programs on appreciating porcelain. Interactive stations such as porcelain-pattern stamp collecting, hands-on handling of ceramic replicas, and children's porcelain painting have been set up, along with the release of cultural and creative products. The museum has attracted large numbers of visitors, with a steady stream of people coming to see the exhibition and eagerly taking part in the various interactive activities. The lively atmosphere allows visitors to immerse themselves in the stories of exchanges, interactions and integration embodied in the cultural relics.
