On April 30, the European Parliament (EP) adopted a resolution that, disregarding facts and legal principles, seeks to malign China’s legislation and ethnic policies while crudely interfering in China’s internal affairs. In response, China expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition, lodging solemn representations with the European side.
Liang Junyan, a researcher at the Institute of History, China Tibetology Research Center, believes that the European Parliament is, in fact, not genuinely concerned about the well-being of people living in China’s border regions. Rather, the resolution was introduced simply as another means of exerting political pressure on China.
