August 12 marked the beginning of the traditional Shoton Festival in Lhasa. Tibetan opera performances serve as a must-see cultural highlight during the festival. From August 12 to 16, six Tibetan opera troupes staged performances at Dzongyab Lukhang Park in Lhasa, drawing large crowds of spectators. Tibetan Opera is an art form that integrates song, dance, performance, storytelling, and literature, with a history spanning over 600 years. It was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2009.
