
On August 31, Panchen Erdeni Chos-kyi rGyal-po, a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and vice president of the Buddhist Association of China, presided over a Buddhist prayer session at Tashilhunpo Monastery in Xigaze, the Xizang Autonomous Region, praying for people affected by the mudslide disaster at Gyirong Port, Xigaze.
At 9:30 a.m., in the Coqen Hall of Tashilhunpo Monastery, Panchen Rinpoche and fellow monks chanted sutras together, praying for the souls of those who lost their lives to find peace, for those still living to be free from suffering, and for the well-being of all.
The prayer session lasted 1.5 hours. More than 200 monks from Tashilhunpo Monastery and representatives of the religious community in Xigaze attended the prayer session.
