The Yarlung Zangbo River in winter offers a vivid testament to the ecological beauty and conservation achievements of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau. At Nyingchi’s Yani National Wetland Park in Xizang, the crystal-clear waters of the Nyang River join with those of the Yarlung Zangbo River.

Dominated by serene shades of azure and emerald, the river’s surface is subtly suffused with these cool, luminous tones. Variations in water depth delineate sinuous “water veins” across the expanse. Exposed sandbars—resembling polished white jade fish—“rest” quietly amid the waves, transforming the river’s surface into a living, flowing watercolor painting.
