The Fairy's Day, known as the "Women's Festival" in modern Xizang, is celebrated on the 15th day of the 10th month in the Tibetan calendar. Women in Lhasa are dressed in their most beautiful clothes performing traditional dances at Jokhang Temple to celebrate this occasion.

According to legend, Pal Lhamo, the daughter of Palden Lhamo—one of the highest Dharma protectors in Tibetan Buddhism—fell in love with Trizongzan, the guardian deity of the Jokhang Temple, and committed herself to him despite her mother’s objections. Enraged, Palden Lhamo exiled Trizongzan to the southern bank of the Lhasa River and decreed that they could meet only once a year, specifically on the fifteenth day of the tenth month in the Tibetan calendar. That day is the “Fairy’s Day”.
