Preserving Culture Through Calligraphy: Sera Monastery in Lhasa Hosts Tibetan Calligraphy Competition

Recently, the Sera Monastery branch of the Xizang Buddhist College hosted an awards ceremony for the 2026 Tibetan Calligraphy Festival competition. Over 300 participants attended the cultural event, including Tibetan calligraphers from the Xizang Calligraphers Association, monks from Sera Monastery, and officials from the monastery’s administrative committee.

A total of 240 Tibetan calligraphy works submitted by monks were received for the competition. After evaluation, 12 first-place prizes, 5 second-place prizes, and 14 third-place prizes were awarded.

The competition was organized to promote and preserve the rich tradition of Tibetan calligraphy and to encourage cultural exchange and learning among monks.
